Brunswick County Association of REALTORS® releases real estate statistics for February 2016

Brunswick County’s residential real estate sales continued to show increases in February compared to the same month last year, according to the most recent statistics from the Brunswick County Association of REALTORS®.

Total home sales jumped 24.8 percent between February of last year and this past month, according to BCAR, going from $34.8 million to $43.4 million. In part due to more accurate reporting from the new regional multiple listing service, the number of listings jumped 47.9 percent, from 363 to 537.

“I believe the 47.9 percent increase is a reflection of the Regional MLS enabling us to pull statistics on all sales that occurred in Brunswick County, rather than statistics limited to sales through a particular MLS,” BCAR CEO Cynthia Cumbie explained.

The number of units sold also increased by 25.7 percent in 2016, going from 152 to 191, while the average sales price dipped slightly, dropping from $229,066 to $227,411.  Cumbie indicated that the average number of days on the market is around 200.

“These numbers show continued slow, steady and healthy growth and a trend towards being a sellers’ market,” Cumbie concluded.
