Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day

On Saturday, March 30th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Wilmington International Airport's Customs Building, located at 1987 Hall Drive, you can dispose of your Household Hazardous Waste. Improper disposal of Household Hazardous Waste is harmful to our health and natural resources. If this waste is not disposed of properly, it will pollute our streams, rivers, drinking water and groundwater. This waste can also interfere with the treatment process at the landfill and wastewater treatment plants. We hope you'll take part in this important event.

Looking for a great way to get in some exercise and fun? Sign up for our March/April 5-week Tennis Session which begins on Monday and Tuesday, March 4th and 5th. See class schedule, below, and please remember that classes are filled on a first registered-first served basis. All classes are held at Joe Eakes Park Tennis Courts in Kure Beach. Outside Agency Funding Requests Being Considered

The Town of Kure Beach is now accepting funding requests from Outside Agencies. If your group or organization would like to be considered to receive funding from the Town, please fill out the Outside Agency Funding Application and submit it to Kure Beach Town Hall at the address provided on the form by 12 Noon on Thursday, March 14, 2013. If you'd prefer to email the completed form, you can email it to acopenhaver@townofkurebeach.org. Town Hall's fax number is 910-458-7421, if you prefer to fax it. LECTURE: Gardening in New Hanover County

Being held at the Community Center on Saturday, March 9th from 10:00-11:00 am, a lecture will be hosted by the Kure Beach Community Center Committee. The public is invited to come and hear Master Gardener Jon Wooten, from the NC Cooperative Extensions' Speakers Bureau Program, kick-off the Community Center's Spring Lecture series. Information will be presented to help homeowners manage their landscapes and will offer gardening tips for managing plants in this challenging Cape Fear environment. The program discusses the importance of soil sampling and garden bed preparation, proper plant selection and correct cultural practices to maintain a successful garden. A question and answer period will be conducted at the end of the presentation. For more information, call the center's Message Line at 910-458-8944. A $5 donation would be appreciated to help defray costs.

Zumba Gold Fitness Class

Come and enjoy Zumba Gold; the low impact, easy to follow, Latin-inspired dance fitness party that keeps you in the groove of life. Classes are on a pay as you go basis for $6.00 per class. Class instructor, Kathy Senna will hold her first class on Wednesday, January 16th and every Wednesday after that from 9:00-10:00 am at the Kure Beach Community Center. Bring a towel and bottled water, and get ready to have fun!

Vinyasa Yoga Flow Classes

The 6-week Vinyasa Yoga Flow classes will begin on Wednesday, February 13th and will take place every Wednesday through March 20th. The cost of the 6-week session is $48 per person.
