DECEMBER COUNCIL MEETING

The December Council meeting has been rescheduled from Tuesday, December 20, to Monday, December 5, 2011. At this meeting, new Council members will be sworn in and take office, and there will be a reception following. Please join us.

 

TOWN HALL CLOSING EARLY ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 23

Town Hall will close at noon on Wednesday, November 23, to allow employees to attend an employee recognition luncheon and have the rest of the day off.

KURE BEACH CHRISTMAS FANTASY SHOW DECEMBER 9, 10 & 11

Bring your family and friends (especially any little ones you've got) to hear your favorite Christmas songs and see Santa, Rudolph, Frosty and others. This year's shows will be held on Friday, Saturday and SUNDAY, December 9, 10 & 11 at 7:00 pm, with a 6:30 pm pre-show performed by the bluegrass band, South of K. As always, the stage will be on K Avenue near the pier. Don't miss this little slice of Americana!

 

TOYS FOR TOTS TENNIS MIXER – DECEMBER 10

There will be a “Toys for Tots” Tennis Mixer at the tennis courts at Joe Eakes Park on Saturday, December 10 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The entry fee is a donation to Toys for Tots. The format is doubles mixer with timed rounds of progressive partner doubles. Advanced registration is required and all levels are welcome. Maximum number of entries is 20, so please register ASAP. FY10-11 AUDIT

Bernard Robinson & Company presented Town Council with the audit for Fiscal Year 2010-2011. The audit may be viewed on the Town’s website under Departments>Finance>Review Budget.

 

KURE BEACH COMMITTEE VACANCIES

The Town of Kure Beach is always looking for residents who would like to serve on Town committees. For a list of committees and member vacancies, access the Town’s website and view the list at the bottom of the calendar list on the homepage.

 

COFFEE WITH THE MAYOR

Mayor Dean Lambeth wants to hear your thoughts and concerns regarding the Kure Beach community. Come and meet with him on Saturday mornings at Town Hall from 9:00 -11:00 am.

  • Accepted resignation of Bill McGee from Citizens Budget and Finance Advisory

  • Tabled appointment to NHC Commission for Women until January 2012 meeting

 

FINANCE/BUDGET

  • Adopted resolution R11-21 approving financing terms with First Bank in an amount not to exceed $29,547 at a rate of 1.50% for a term not to exceed four years for the purchase of a budgeted utility service truck for Public Works.

 

LEGAL/COUNCIL

  • Approved closing Town Hall at noon on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 to allow employees to attend employee appreciation luncheon and have rest of the afternoon off.
  • Adopted interlocal agreement with New Hanover County, Carolina Beach and Wrightsville Beach for contingency Plan for Beach Nourishment.
  • Changed date of regular December Council meeting and organizational meeting to Monday, Dec 5th at 6:30 pm.

  • Letter from Sea Watch asking for private/public partnership for installation of storm water detention structure at their beach access.
  • Request from Wilmington MPO to adopt resolution R11-20 supporting restoration of rail line between Wallace and Castle Hayne
  • Reduction in storm water fees for ½ size lots

  • Town Clerk to provide information about committee term inconsistencies to committee chairmen for discussion at next joint meeting in December.
