NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER Hi folks, and welcome new subscribers! Who needs Mardi Gras in New Orleans when the fun and free events here in Wilmy just keep coming? Before we get to some of those, a big congratulations to last week's ticket winners: Amy Lucas wrote in to say that Xanadu: The Musical is "extremely entertaining" and "highly recommended;" and birthday gal Sheila Coutant is excited for this week's Wilmington Symphony Orchestra concert. For those of you itching to attend either of these events, please see below. Meanwhile, here are a few extra free happenings to write into your datebook (that's the old-fashioned, non-electronic, way of keeping track of your life): UNCW hosts two lectures on Thursday, one in Kenan Hall, the other in Randall Library. Atlanta Bread at Mayfaire now features Jazz Night on Thursdays. On Sunday, as part of The Big Read series of events, local actors read from Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald's letters. Get in the Valentine's Day mood with Storytelling Night featuring the topic of L-O-V-E. TIME OUT FOR TICKETS (one entry per person per event, please) I have another pair of tickets to this Saturday's Wilmington Symphony Orchestra concert for the 10th person to email me the Valentine's Day event on the WoW calendar that includes the word "real" in it. I also have two more tickets to see Xanadu for the 14th person to email me the name of the show's musical director. Hint: His last name goes nicely with "of Seville." BONUS TICKETS: I have a ticket each for two lucky winners to see Big Dawg Productions' staging of Harvey, the classic American comedy in which an imaginary character figures prominently in the plot.
